Full many a wonder is told us in stories old,
of heroes worthy of praise, of hardships dire,
of joy and feasting, of weeping and of wailing;
of the fighting of bold warriors, now ye may hear wonders told.
Danger abounds in the world of Golarion. Humans wage war with each other over centuries-long territorial and religious feuds. Decaying Dwarven holds struggle for survival. The Fae races – Elves and Gnomes – seek territories and freedoms stolen by usurpers. Halflings do their best to simply be ignored, hoping that their inoffensiveness would save them. The half-breeds individually hope for acceptance yet are unable to gains status.
Meanwhile, Orcs, Gnolls, and worse ravage the landscape. Dragons possess entire nations of humanoids used for esoteric eugenic experiments. Demons have torn a hole into the world and pour through, attempting to create another Hell. And artifacts from beyond the stars fall onto Golarion, each changing the fate of entire nations for millenia.
This is a world of heroes, for without them, all would be lost. But heroism has its price.
